Restigouche River. Flowing across the northwestern part of New Brunswick and into Quebec, the Restigouche welcomes around 15,000-20,000 salmon each year, attracting anglers from all over the world. Restigouche salmon are known for their aggressive character, putting up quite a fight once hooked. Reeling in a 9-14 kg (20-30 lb) salmon is common.. Two brook trout obliged with good strikes. They weren't record fish, but memorable for the time and place. Light line and slim rods make for an exciting test of skill on narrow waters. So does scrambling through alders, and poking your rod through openings in the brush to reach trout-filled pools. This is rough-and-tumble fishing, to me.

The fall sea trout run in New Brunswick usually occurs between September and November, with peak activity in October. During this time, sea trout can be found in many of the same rivers and streams as during the spring run, although some areas may be more productive than others.
